About WASP
WASP is a unique service dedicated to supporting the emotional well-being of children and young people. We focus on those experiencing anxiety and low mood due to Autism Spectrum Condition or other neurodevelopmental conditions, whether diagnosed or not.
Our approach is centred on fostering peer-to-peer support, building resilience, and empowering parents to confidently support their children in accessing appropriate help in the future. We work closely with families to establish clear goals and positive outcomes, ensuring that everyone feels understood, supported, and able to thrive.
A message from one of our team members:
“WASP doesn’t feel like a job. To be part of something that makes such a difference to people’s lives is amazing. Everyone needs be part of a community, not feel isolated and scared. Being a parent carer can be terrifying, and I am passionate about keeping families’ safe, confident and feeling happier. Parent carers can be lonely, have to leave work, lose friends and family due to their young one’s needs. Their world becomes smaller. Working in WASP enables us to bring safety and laughter back to both the YP and parent carers lives.
We are none judgemental and my colleagues are what keeps me doing my job. The support is amazing, and the team are always on hand to talk and debrief after a tricky case. We have lots of laughs too which is needed”
