Kids are seeking a dedicated Young Peoples Practitioner to join our team, helping the delivery of our youth group sessions and activities to those aged 14-25 with diverse needs across Hull. This sessional role offers the chance to work alongside experienced practitioners and sessional staff, creating opportunities for young people to socialise, develop their independence and have their voices heard in a safe, supportive environment.

Job Title: Sessional Young Peoples Practitioner

Location: Hull, HU5 4DJ

Hours: Sessional, zero hour

Term time groups:

  • Wednesdays: 17:00- 20.30
  • ADHOC hours available to support the Senior Practitioner with 1:1 elements.

School holidays:

  • ADHOC hours available on our Summer Young Peoples Engagement Group (YPEG) trips and activities

Salary: £12.21 to £13.68 per hour

Qualifications: NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent (or working towards it)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with a dedicated team to create a welcoming and engaging atmosphere for children and young people.
  • Support and supervise a wide range of fun, stimulating activities tailored to different abilities, both 1:1 and in small groups.
  • To have an understanding of Coproduction and Participation.
  • To assist Senior Practitioner in taking notes/recording group sessions.
  • To ensure the wellbeing of young people.
  • To consult and involve the young person in all decisions affecting them using whatever means are appropriate and possible. 
  • To develop strong supportive relationships with young people and their families.
  • Empower young people to choose and participate in activities that interest them, fostering their independence.
  • Ensure that each young person’s social, emotional, and physical needs are met with sensitivity to their religious, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Use various communication methods to effectively engage with children and young people, adapting to their individual needs.
  • Keep the Senior Practitioner informed of any changes or concerns regarding the children and young people.
  • Uphold safeguarding policies, ensuring a safe environment for all.
