Job Title: Young People’s Practitioner

Location: Hull, HU5 4DJ
Contract Type: Sessional, zero-hour
Hourly Rate: £12.21 – £13.68


Session Times:

During Term Time:

  • Wednesdays: 5:00pm – 8:30pm

  • ADHOC Hours: Available to support the Senior Practitioner with 1:1 work

During School Holidays:

  • ADHOC Hours: Opportunities to support young people on day trips and activities as part of our Summer Young People’s Engagement Group (YPEG)

Qualifications Required:

  • NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent (or working towards it)

Kids is looking for a committed and caring Young People’s Practitioner to support the delivery of our weekly youth group and additional activities for disabled young people aged 14–25 in Hull. You’ll be part of a welcoming and experienced team, helping young people to build friendships, develop independence, and have their voices heard.

Whether you’re facilitating activities in our sensory room, supporting someone 1:1, or joining our summer outings, you’ll play a key role in helping each young person feel valued and included.


🔧 Key Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside a supportive team to deliver fun, engaging sessions in a safe, inclusive environment

  • Support both group and 1:1 activities tailored to young people’s individual needs and abilities

  • Help young people develop social skills, confidence, and independence through participation

  • Assist the Senior Practitioner in recording group activities and taking session notes

  • Build strong, respectful relationships with young people and their families

  • Use a variety of communication methods to ensure every young person is included

  • Encourage coproduction and participation, ensuring young people are involved in all decisions that affect them

  • Promote wellbeing and ensure the emotional, social, and physical needs of young people are met

  • Adhere to safeguarding policies and report any concerns appropriately
